Right Turns Only

from $45.00

Ah, the absurd delight of it! A back-country dirt road, ribs of earth exposed and battered by tires and rain, stretches before you like a sinewy vein pulsing with possibilities. It’s the kind of road where the map shrugs and the GPS weeps, a path carved by stubborn men and wandering deer. You’re gliding down this trail of dust and rebellion, the tires humming like a hymn to the lost gods of wanderlust. And then, out of the corner of your eye, it appears—a sign, stoic and sure of itself. “Right Turn Ahead,” it declares, brazenly ignoring the fact that the road veers only left, as though geography itself has failed to consult the bureaucratic wisdom of signage.

You laugh, at first, a belly-deep cackle that startles the crows perched on the fenceposts. But then, like a punchline that lingers, the absurdity blooms into revelation. What if, you think, what if there is a right turn? Not in the earth, but in the air? Not in the dirt, but in the will? The kind of turn that ignores the well-worn grooves of convention and charts a course through the unexplored wilderness of the soul. Suddenly, the sign is not wrong. No, it’s prophetic.

The epiphany grabs you by the collar, shakes you awake: to turn right when no right exists is to create. It’s to defy the cartographer, the engineer, the cynic who says, “This is the way things are.” It’s the purest form of rebellion, of artistry, of life. The dirt road becomes a metaphor, a stage, a canvas smeared with dust and hope. To make the turn that isn’t there is to birth something new—a dream, a path, a future.

You slow the car, dust billowing like ghosts in your rearview mirror. The left-hand turn yawns wide, welcoming in its inevitability. But your hands grip the wheel tighter, the muscles in your arms tense with decision. You can see it now, that right turn that doesn’t exist. It’s not made of gravel or soil; it’s made of faith, of madness, of the audacious belief that life isn’t a map but a dance. You crank the wheel right, veering off into the unmarked beyond. The car shudders, the tires rebel, but you press on, laughing like a lunatic who has discovered the secret to the universe.

And maybe you have. For what is success, if not the ability to see a path where none exists and have the courage to follow it? What is creativity, if not the audacity to make a right turn when the world tells you to go left? The road you leave behind, the sign fading into the dust of memory, was never your road. You were always meant to carve your own.

And so, you drive on, grinning like a thief who’s just stolen fire from the gods, daring the horizon to tell you no.
