Elevators
Elevators
Pine Trees is a beach where we all learn to surf in Kona. There are 5 separate breaks there, each with its on style, color and pattern of breaking wave. Elevators is the second most north of the peaks and is a fast moving wave on a very shallow reef. This piece was created with that wave in mind and mimics the color change as that wave breaks on the reef.
A breaking wave is beautifully simple and endlessly complex. Rocks under the surface of the water create waves and hydraulics. Water flows over the rocks, drops and then comes up forcefully mixing with the air and creating whitewater. Waves are formed when there is a lot of water flowing over the rocks.... always loved the color changes that happen as a result of that process.
A striking piece of surf art / wall art, this elegant surf art is created from a 5’10” Fish shaped surfboard that is lovingly, carefully and creatively dipped into paint, then gently pressed to canvas in order to create a one of a kind impression. A modern interpretation of the ancient art form Gyotaku. This print would be the perfect gift for a surfer, or for a beach themed room.
The surfboard used is a custom surfboard, shaped by Wave Weapons Surf Shop in Oceanside California.
Each piece of art is hand made, one of a kind and truly original.
